Vanilla gameplay
PocketMine-MP was never a vanilla server: no vanilla world generation, no redstone, no mob AI. VanillaMine adds them to the core. This page lists what exists and where to tune it. Behaviour that differs from Bedrock Dedicated Server is a bug: please report it.
Worlds
- Vanilla terrain (
level-type=vanilla): Overworld, Nether and End with vanilla biomes, caves, carvers, ores and decoration. Terrain is computed by a native core with an identical PHP fallback. - Structures: villages and other jigsaw structures, desert pyramids, jungle temples, ruined portals, mineshafts, strongholds, ocean monuments, woodland mansions, Nether fortresses, fossils and End cities, with their loot.
- Weather per world: rain, thunderstorms, lightning (
/weather). - The End: dragon fight, exit portal and gateways to the outer islands.
Settings: chunk-generation, chunk-ticking, worlds and dimensions in pocketmine.yml.
Mobs
- Mob AI and vanilla spawning: Bedrock spawn rules, light levels, herds, population caps, patrols.
- Passive, neutral and hostile mobs, the warden, creaking, slimes, piglins and more; bosses with boss bars.
- Villagers: professions, job sites, schedules, breeding, gossip, trading; wandering traders.
- Illager patrols, raids and Hero of the Village. Riding: horses, mounts, happy ghast, minecarts with rail physics.
Settings: the mobs section. The most used ones:
| Setting | Use |
|---|---|
mobs.enabled: false | No mob AI and no natural spawning (e.g. a lobby or minigame server). |
mobs.spawning.enabled: false | Mobs think, but none spawn naturally. |
mobs.spawning.global-cap | Fewer naturally spawned mobs per world on weak hardware. |
mobs.spawning.spawn-limits.* | Caps per type (animal, monster…), like Paper's spawn-limits. -1 = vanilla. |
mobs.max-ai-updates-per-tick | Bounds AI cost with many mobs. |
mobs.ignore-plugin-npcs | Mobs leave plugin NPCs (shopkeepers, menus) alone. On by default. |
Redstone and blocks
Power engine and wire, repeaters, comparators, torches, buttons, pressure plates, pistons, observers, sculk sensors, hoppers, dispensers, beacons, maps, bundles, trial spawners and vaults, and the vanilla creative inventory. Settings: the redstone section.
Commands
Target selectors (@a, @p, @e[...]), /tag, /locate biome|structure, /weather and command overloads.
Server
- Plugin fault isolation: a plugin that throws an exception no longer stops the whole server.
- Per-player language: messages in each player's game language (
settings.per-player-language).
