Compatibility
Rule: the plugin API only grows. Nothing that existed in PocketMine-MP 5.44.3 is removed or changed in a way that breaks plugins. New features come as new classes, new methods and new sub-interfaces, never as new methods on existing interfaces that plugins implement.
What was tested
The 40 most downloaded API 5 plugins on Poggit were loaded on VanillaMine and played with (economy, world edit, skyblock, scoreboards, NPCs, forms, mob plugins…). The ones that needed fixes were fixed in VanillaMine, not in the plugins.
Things to know
- Vanilla items, blocks and mobs are built in. A plugin that registers an item, block, entity or command alias that VanillaMine now has keeps loading; the built-in one is used and the plugin's registration is ignored (saved worlds keep the vanilla save names).
- Mobs spawn by themselves. Mob plugins and VanillaMine's own mobs coexist. Plugin mobs count towards the population caps (
mobs.spawning.count-all-mobs-for-spawning) so the world does not get twice as many mobs. Plugin NPCs (named, standing still or not saved) are not attacked by mobs (mobs.ignore-plugin-npcs). - Plugin errors are isolated. An exception in a plugin's event handler or task is logged and the plugin is disabled; the server keeps running.
- New network transport. Bedrock 1.26.50+ clients use NetherNet. Plugins that only use the PocketMine network API are not affected. Plugins that open their own UDP sockets on the game port will conflict.
- Behind a proxy,
Player::transfer()to the name of a network server moves the player through VanillaGate instead of disconnecting them.
